Assassin's Creed

So I finally managed to play through Assassin's Creed!
I tried it a few times when it came out with the version my brother bought, but never sat through it (just like AC II). And I still know why ...
I have no idea why it became so popular with its first part. First I heard from it, I hoped it would be like a new Prince of Persia, but that hope was destroyed very early. A futuristic storyline (which isn't bad), and jumping, climbing and fighting system made for babies:
"You want to climb that huge amazing tower right there? Well, just press 'W'..."
It looks cool how Altair makes his moves, but it requires absolutely no skill from the player. Even the jumps are done automatically o.O
Maybe the fights recompense it!
No ...
An assassin who kills the whole city guard army, if he wants, hides in a hay pile and everything is fine!

Fighting is like this:
- Hold the right mouse button to parry everyone.
- wait until someone starts an attack on you
- spam the left mouse button to make a counter attack
--repeat these steps until everyone is dead
---repeat these steps 18 hours until you bet the game

Basically that's it.
Do a few side quests, which aren't really fun, until you can kill the next Big Man. Do that 9 times.

The story is a bit confusing, at least for me. It's always a bit hard for me to follow a story, when it is only spoken by someone. But nonetheless it is a promising start for a wider storyline.

The graphics are quite OK for its release date in 2007 and I nearly didn't have any bugs.

To sum it up: It's a good looking game with too boring game play mechanics, a too long extended quest line with too much repetitive elements. I only played it for the sake of it and because I hope that the later games are better. I wouldn't recommend it to others.
5/10

"Dark Age - A Matter of Trust" A Pleasent Anticipation

Dark Age
A Matter of Trust
Melodic Hard Rock
2013

Dark Age is a german metal band, that played melodic death metal for a long time, with a brilliant mixture of fast drums, brutal growls and shouts, but also clear vocals (in the refrains), sweet depressing lyrics and one of the best guitar melodies I know. You could go nuts to a song and at the same time dwell in melancholia... or just go nuts to a killer song. One of my favorites that brings it all together, is Kingdom Never Come from Acedia 2009 (their latest album).

I'm dying, while trying
I'm so close to get
A Life like all Others
Fall back on Regret
Will I ever be Myself again?
I'm building my Kingdom Nevercome...
But this time seems to be over, somehow. Because after 4 long years they release this new album A Matter of Trust at 2013.09.06. They released snippets of every song on their Facebook-page and the new single Afterlife.

As you can hear, they sound very soft now, just because the growls are missing and were completely replaced by clean vox from singer Eike, which sound more awesome than ever. I was told that they sound like Muse, which I can't confirm, simply because I didn't listen to them before. But I don't think that Muse have these riffs, which are still typical Dark Age. Most of the songs they show in the snippets, I could easily assign to Dark Age, IF they had the growls instead of the cleans. But you also hear a few of them in the extracts, which makes me hope that there are more in the album. I absolutely like the new way, but I think their music loses a lot of its former power, just because the voice isn't that aggressive anymore, although the guitars still make their thing like in the albums before.

In not even 2 weeks we will know more about it, when the special edition comes to me.
And all i wanted to say is, that I'm really excited about this release!

Saints Row IV an hilarious Matrix-Prototype-GTA and much more!

A boss of mine  got a Saints Row IV key on gamescom and gave it to me (nice!) and of course I played it over the weekend. I own Saints Row: The Third because of a THQ humblebundle, but didn't play it. Also I didn't know what I should expect from this game, due to lack of information I read about it before. Just saw it on Steam and it looked funny.

I jumped into a mission that played like normal 3rd person shooter or action game like Batman: Arkham Asylum but as suddenly (oops!) a nuclear rocket with Washington as destination was launched, you climb up that rocket (!) in quicktime manner and Aerosmith with I don't wanna miss a Thing plays (an Armageddon reference), while you sit there laughing like an idiot!

And this introduces quite accurate what expects you in the following hours of that game: A lot of weird, twisted and real good executed fun.
After a few minutes of playing, you land in a virtual city, where your character got trapped in by aliens and you consciously know that it is not real (just like Matrix). This city is open, you can walk around it as much as you want and solve a LOT of different missions (like GTA). These missions have a wide range from mini games to main quests with more consequential happenings, which are really fun to play. Some oldschool demolition, a mini hacking game, city races, area control and so on.

What makes it much better than GTA, are the Prototype elements. You gain different super powers in that Matrix world, like a Supersprint, Powerjump and Gliding ability or Telekinesis and many more. That's very motivating because you unlock, buy and upgrade them with money and experience you gain.

The graphic isn't top notch  but it has a style that reminds a bit of  Bioshock Infinite (especially the characters) and it all fits together and displays an immersive world. And from the first minute it is clear that graphic isn't that important as long as it displays the goofs in a hilarious way.

Until now it didn't lose its drive that motivates you to continue the main story and you're always excited what stupid stuff they bring up next. And that's what makes it better than GTA for me!

Awesome!

Skyrim Screencaps

I just wanted to share some screenshots of my modded  Skyrim version with you. It's such a satisfying feeling to walk around a world with such realistic graphics!
This is the result of nearly 200 mods I'm using (but most of them are armor mods).
Click on the pictures to see them in full resolution. Have fun!

Dragon Age: Origins

Yea, I won't notice the big time distance between this and my former post, because it seems like that's the common way of blogging people x)
Anyway I played Dragon Age: Origins the last days, which I never played although it came out 2009 and everyone seemed to play it. I only heard good things about it.

But I have to say, as a long time Skyrim player, that this just doesn't catch me.
I'm a gamer who gives a lot of s**t on graphics. Meaning that I can walk around a game for hours and just feast on a beautiful landscape. But Dragon Age leaves me disappointed. Most of the landscape and environment textures and designs remind me of very old MMOs like Silkroad or Kal Online.

Not beautiful right? But then suddenly when watching cut scenes and dialogues, it seems like a decent RPG, when the DoF effect (depth of field) works correctly and you see the highrezz face textures of the characters.

So I'm really indecisive about that and would enjoy the game nontheless, IF the gameplay would attract to me, but this also isn't the case. As soon as combats begin, the atmosphere of a RPG is gone for me because it switches to a more tactical Diablo/Hack&Slay view. You can also fight in 3rd person view, but that becomes counterproductive after a few hours when the combats get more difficult. So you click around, pause the game after every dead enemy and give new instructions to your party members. And although I'm playing on low difficulty, they die in my arms. So all I do, is to control the healer and spam the Heal spell on the tank. Yes, you can set rules for each group member, but that doesn't work how you want. It feels like a bad World of Warcraft for singleplayers.
Ok, I'm not doing any sidequest to gain more XP, because I just wanted to experience the story to play Dragon Age 2 after that and Dragon Age: Inquisition in 2014. But the Story so far doesn't catch me either. It's about some Breed coming over the world controlled by an Archdaemon, which you (of course) have to hunt and stop. Nothing special and new. But at least the dialogues are quite funny and sarcastic and the game gives you huge freedom in decisions.

I only played for 10 hours and hope that it gets better. But until now i can't understand the big compliments everyone gave to that game.

Welcome to the Attic

Hi and welcome to this new site, where I want to share some of my thoughts and irrelevant opinions  probably  nobody  cares about. As I am not a native English speaker, you'll find loads of unintended grammatical and spelling mistakes, but one of the purposes of this blog is to improve my English and get more familiar with it, because just by reading 9gag posts it won't get better, right? ;)
Subjects will be mainly about Music, Games, Movies, a Book maybe then and now, and a few personal evaporations (yea, I had to check that word first).
